Physics Minor Requirements

Foraminor in physics, PHYS-013/014 and PHYS-023/024, orPHYS-001/002together with PHYS-182 and PHYS-183, or PHYS-178 andPHYS-179, aresuggested as a program of study. Substitution of othercourses may bemade with the approval of the department.

Atmospheric Sciences Minor

New Minor in the Collegeof Arts and Sciences (Fall 2012)

Anewminor is available for students who have an interest inunderstandingthe Physics behind the atmosphere. These topics include:atmosphericmeasurements, weather, climate change and policy. Studentsin this minorwill be able to appreciate the science behind some ofnature’s greatesthazards: floods, tornadoes, hurricanes, droughts andheat waves, whileat the same time being exposed to state-of-the-artresearch at HowardUniversity. The Atmospheric Science minor isadministered by theDepartment of Physics and Astronomy.

Studentsarerequired to take 18 credit hours of Atmospheric Sciencecourses.Students must also include in their curriculum Calculus I andII. Thefirst course – Weather and Society (PHYS 016) – was taught inthe Fallof 2012.
